My Radio Station

 CQ... CQ.... CQ...

Radio

My current station has the following radio equipment. Harris 1446 pacer bounce,  Loral Terracom PRC-132 Kenwood 720S, 731A  Icom  2100H, V8000, IC24, 706MkIIg with a auto tuner and a hacked up Azden PCS2000, 4000, 5000. Other radios include Small Wonder Labs PSK-20, Alinco 196, 596 HT and a Bendix King HT. I also have a TK-941 for use in the 902-928 Mhz ham band.  I have a handful of scanners. Most of the time the scanners just sit around gathering dust. I also have a CSI 900 auto phone patch on 2 Meters just in case my cell phone fails.

VHF/UHF Antennas

I  have a copper JPole strung from a tree.  2-meter log pointed at the local repeater. A Ringo Rangers  at 20 feet  and a AR270b at 30 feet. A clover antenna for VHF satellites and a Arrow2 for working the UHF/VHF satellites while out camping. I also have a 30 foot tower with a Yaseu 5500 rotor and  Cushcraft right handed 440 and 144 beams for satellite work. I also have a 31 element 440 beam  on top of the HF beam at 79 feet for ATV DXing. I have a 900 mhz homebrew 10 element Yagi at 55 feet.

HF Antennas

I have homemade a dipole for 75 meters. set at about 30 feet. I use current type Baluns from spiromfg.com.  I also have a   Mosley 33sr with 40 meter Option kit set at 75 feet.

ATV

I have a ATV station up and running. I use the PC Electronics TX70-10 transceiver with a Mirage D1010 100 watt amp.  The ATV is interfaced with live cameras and live feeds from the computer.

Power

To power up the HF radios I have an Astron 35 amp power supply. This beauty is a workhorse. I love it! For the VHF I use a MFJ 4035MV 35 amp supply. It works fine but not as tuff as the Astron. In case of AC power failure I have, an APC Matrix 5000 UPS. This bad boy requires 220 Volts its big and heavy. loads of power when you need it most! I also have a APC 1400 just in case. I have a line voltage monitor to keep an eye on the line power. I have a Onan generator  I am planning on converting the Onan to propane. If all else fails,  I have three large boat batteries on a float charger for 12-volt backup power and a 120 volt inverter rated at 300 watts. I installed 12 volt lighting in case of power failure.  These babies can run for weeks on a boat battery. I also have 4 small 17 ah batteries I go camping with. I have them wired together with Anderson power pole connectors. I installed a Rig Runner for 12 volts and PW30 to keep a 70 amp battery charged. The PW30 will kick in the battery in case I loose 110vac to the main 12 power supply.

Test Equipment

MFJ 269 Antenna Analyzer

Protech P2510 scope

HP 5328a freq counter

Fluke  8840A VOM

Tektronics 496 Spectrum Analyzer

MFJ 2 Meter FM Signal Analyzer

I own the worst antenna tuner ever! MFJ 989C. Mine is junk. I spent over 350.00 for this hunk of crap. When I got it new, it had chunks of metal rolling around in it. Moreover, the meter died two days after I got it. MFJ sent 2 new diodes. I installed them only to have the meter fail again shortly thereafter. I use the Diamond watt meter anyway. The roller inductor looks like some tinker toy project. It grinds when turned. The counter slips and will not repeat it's setting.  mine is pure junk I will not buy another tuner from MFJ.

I have a MFJ RCS-4 antenna switch I that I love! Works great, I also have a MFJ 269 antenna analyzer that also works like a champ!

I know it's a mess, but I call it "The Shack"!
